The license charge was the second such ticket in the last 5 years. The defendant was offered the following plea:

  • dismissal of the license charge,
  • a plea of guilty to the window tint charge,
  • 11 months 29 days probation, early termination if he completes 10 days in the County Work Program and has paid his fine and costs total (approximately $1300).

The license charge upon plea or conviction would have required 10 days in the County Jail.

DUI Case Results in Lesser Charges in Cherokee County

Hines, LLC successfully resolved the case of a woman who was driving without a driver’s license in February 2018 at the time her car collided with another vehicle in Cherokee County. Although the other driver was found at fault the defendant was the only person cited, for the lack of a license.

The case was then continued until Oct 24, 2019, by which time the defendant had obtained a Georgia driver’s license. The defendant was allowed to plead guilty to the lesser charge of Driving on an Expired License, which carries no points, and pay a fine of $135. The minimum fine and costs for Driving without a license is normally $700.

No Drivers License No Jail Time in Hall County

Frederick R. Mann Jr of The Law Offices of Matthew C. Hines, LLC successfully resolved today the traffic court case of a Mexican woman, undocumented, who was charged with driving without a valid drivers license in Hall County.

The client was struck from behind by another driver who was not carrying valid proof of insurance. No one was injured. The client was able to plead guilty to the charge and the 2 day jail requirement was suspended because she was able to pay the $687.50 fine immediately and provided the Solicitor with proof she had voluntarily served ten days of house arrest before her arraignment.

No probation or community service was ordered.

Theft Charges in Douglas County Results in Dismissal

Frederick R. Mann Jr of The Law Offices of Matthew C. Hines, LLC successfully closed out the traffic court case of his client today in Douglass County, Georgia. The client, a chef at a downtown restaurant in Atlanta, allegedly took a young woman’s cell phone she had put down while shopping in a store in Douglas County.

She later tracked the phone to the defendant’s residence, but he denied knowing anything about it. In fact he had been captured on the store’s surveillance tape taking the phone when it disappeared. The client was offered a PRETRIAL DIVERSION PROGRAM deal and accepted.

He must pay $300 by Dec 14 for the cost of the program, and return to court with proof he has worked 40 hours as a chef for a charity, and the case will then be dismissed. The client was very happy.
